Welcome to Humanity

The Retreat Begins Before We Arrive

There is a real ache moving through humanity right now.

You can feel it underneath the noise.

We can no longer tolerate the endless scrolling.

Productivity feels empty.

The “I’m fine” response is a lie.

People are hungry for something they cannot quite name, but know it exists.

We do not need more information that takes away our time.

We do not need another strategy.

And we definitely do not need more performance.

The glaring gap that is the void yearning to be filled can only be filled through connection.

Real connection.

The kind of connection that gives permission for you to simply be yourself.

The kind of connection that reminds you your humanity is not a problem to solve.

The kind connection where you realize that you do not have “to do” anything to be worthy of if.

This week, myself, Dr. Fred Moss, and Alexandra Isaevych hosted the first online gathering for the Welcome to Humanity Retreat happening this September.

This was NOT a networking event.

II was NOT transactional.

And it definitely was not curated for appearances.

The entire conversation was a spark that brought a sensation of aliveness, possibility, and inspiration.

Over twenty people gathered together from different walks of life:

Healers.

Psychotherapists.

Body workers.

Coaches.

Artists.

Writers.

Consciousness explorers.

Financial strategists.

Sacred medicine practitioners.

People who spend their lives holding others through grief, trauma, awakening, collapse, rebirth, and transformation.

We gathered together to address that even the healers need healing and support.

Even the guides need somewhere safe to land.

Who holds the healers?

Who holds the people carrying entire communities on their backs while secretly wondering if they themselves are allowed to fall apart? To not know?  To not have all the answers?

Because many of us have become incredibly skilled at helping others while quietly abandoning ourselves.

We know how to lead.

How to facilitate.

How to hold space.

How to show up.

But receiving?

Receiving is another story.

Receiving support.

Receiving rest.

Receiving nourishment.

Receiving love without proving ourselves first.

That is where many people break.  Many feel that if they do not continue to hold together the scaffolding and structure of their lives and the identities they’ve created, that all will fall apart.

And perhaps that is why this retreat already feels different.

There was need to posture.

No need to appear enlightened.

No spiritual performance disguised as authenticity.

Just human beings meeting each other honestly.

One participant spoke about redefining success—not through money alone, but through relationships, nature, and presence.

Another reflected on the importance of sacred relating and the cultivation of deeper connection within communities.

Others spoke about trauma, healing, mental wellness, emotional integration, consciousness, dance, nature, creativity, service, and the strange loneliness many people feel even while surrounded by others.

There was laughter.

There was vulnerability.

There was wisdom.

And there was something else too:

Relief.

Relief that maybe we are not as alone as we thought.

Because despite all our advancements, all our technology, all our self-help books and optimization strategies… humanity is still aching for belonging.

We don’t need followers, audiences, branding…

We need belonging.

The retreat itself will be a deeply immersive experience designed to create meaningful connection, contribution, reflection, restoration, and shared growth.

But in many ways, the retreat has already begun.

It begins the moment people choose authenticity over performance.

The moment they stop pretending they are invincible.

The moment they allow themselves to be seen—not as a polished identity, but as a living, breathing human being trying to navigate this wild and sacred experience called life.

To explore the edges of what actually wants to be lived through us individually and collectively.

That is the deeper invitation here.

Not perfection, performance, impressive data…

Humanity.

And maybe that is the medicine now.

Not transcending being human…

…but fully arriving inside it and finally seeing that that in itself is the real miracle.
